Yoga to health

Yoga teaches that we are all an essential part of the whole. We are all one. The word yoga itself means to unite, to be one.

Dear friends in yoga.

Why then is there so much conflict in our world; between countries, societies, ethnic groups, families, with our loved ones and even with within ourselves?

The ancient yogis spent much of their time in nature and there finding much wisdom within the matrix of mother earth. You will notice many of our yoga poses are named after trees, plants, animals and natural phenomenon.

Mother Nature is such a patient gentle teacher. All we need to do is step outside into our garden to find the answers everywhere! We just need to open ourselves to receive the wisdom on offer.

Let’s take a lemon tree for example. On close inspection, we see the fruit of the lemon at all levels of development; from the beautiful and delicate white flower, to the tiny lemon emerging from the flower, to the small, medium and large lemons, all present on the same tree at the same time. We celebrate this diversity because it means that throughout most of the year we have an abundance of fruit to pick. We know that the little lemon has the potential to grow and mature and that the flower has the promise of ripeness and beauty. We would never contemplate criticising any level of development of the individual fruits we see before us and yet for some inexplicable reason, we cannot perceive the people in our life with the same tolerance. Is it because we can clearly see the tree as one, whereas we cannot see humanity as one?

Yoga teaches that we are all one; all connected; all fruits of the same magnificent humanity tree. All growing together at our own unique level of development. So let’s allow our yoga practice to teach us to see the oneness of all life and to see each other as the individually developing fruits on the tree of life, enjoying our journey at our own unique level of development and letting our egoic self have a well deserved rest!

Affirmation: I already have, all that I need to become all that I may be.

Warmly yours in yoga,

Louise
